Salvia divinorum is an extraordinary herb used in shamanism, divination,
healing, meditation, and the exploration of consciousness. It should always be used in a thoughtful, intelligent manner, and only by responsible adults that are of sound mind and clear intent. "The purpose of these sacraments is to purify, and to open the road. When it opens, it's as clear as the blue sky, and the stars at night are as bright as suns." —Aurelia Aurora Catarino (Mazatec shaman) Tamamen legal ama şamanlar tavsiye etmiyomuş |

sonuna doğru kafayı dağıtmakla ilgili bişey var kaçırma One evening many years ago at the University of Zürich, George Steiner and Gershom Scholem, both eminent scholars of European philosophy and literature, drew up "a list of minimal prerequisites for those aspiring to read Walter Benjamin seriously". Both could claim an affinity with the late writer allowing them to indulge: Steiner being in the tradition of great 20th Century German-Jewish polymaths as exemplified by Benjamin, and Scholem being the same and, what’s more, one half of a famous correspondence with the man himself – the former writing from prescient exile in Palestine, the latter from all around Europe first as he scraped a living and second as he sought safety. Here’s how Steiner describes the first four prerequisites ... First: a knowledge, almost more than native and somnambular, of the German language. A knowledge so philologically informed and delicate of ear that it would penetrate even the notorious arcana of the theoretical prelude to Benjamin’s study of the German baroque Trauerspiel. Hofmannsthal had caught the inspired strangeness of Benjamin’s idiom when first receiving the essay on Goethe’s Elective Affinities. A major poet had heard the novum in Benjamin’s voice. Any serious reader must be able to follow suit. In order to do so (second prerequisite), he or she must acquaint themselves thoroughly with the lineage of German ‘illumination’ and linguistic romanticism that leads from Meister Eckhardt and Böhme to Hamann, Herder and Hölderlin. Here, ruled Scholem, are the echo chambers against, within which Walter Benjamin evolves both his language-mysticism and discursive tactics. Third on Scholem’s list came a thorough knowledge of the youth movements, notably in Berlin, which, just before the First World War, shaped Benjamin’s pedagogic sociology. Those ignorant of the teachings of Gustav Wyneken and of the early Buber, could have no real access to the wellsprings of Benjamin’s political aesthetics. Fourth, the would-be member of the tribe of Benjamin should possess a responsible acquaintance with those writers and thinkers, principally French, who, together with his immersion in the German heritage, were the touchstones of Walter Benjamin’s orientations. These included not only Baudelaire, Proust and Gide, but the utopian Saint-Simon, Fourier, Blanqui and such Russian masters as Leskov. So far, suggested Scholem, no problems. (TLS 8 October 1993) He goes on for another three hundred words outlining the three remaining prerequisites: An understanding of Benjamin’s Marxism, his Judaism, and, perhaps most unexpectedly, of his use of controlled drugs – "of hashish in particular": It is not only Benjamin’s experimental writings when under the influence that matter Steiner writes it is the intense, flickering light which the drug episodes throw on such key terms as ‘aura’, as ‘illumination’, as dreams, possibly collective. With the list complete, Steiner asked Scholem how many readers he deemed qualified to read Benjamin seriously. "Only one" he replied. "And his smile was mordant." |
