küçük harfli tarih Ceylan Öztürk ALAN İstanbul 06 / 02 / 2015 - 14 / 03 / 2015 [scroll down for English] Ceylan Öztürk, "küçük harfli tarih" isimli 4. kişisel sergisi ile ALAN İstanbul’da! Türkiye çağdaş sanatı içerisinde hem sergi içerikleri hem de enstalasyon ve müdahale işleri ile öne çıkan Ceylan Öztürk, "küçük harfli tarih" başlıklı yeni sergisinde bir tarihçi rolüne bürünüyor ve tarihçinin subjektif bakış açısını referans alarak tarih yazımını sanatçı bireyselliğinde ele alıyor. Sergideki eserler bir yöntem denemesi olarak, öznel tarih yazımı ile sanatçının sanatsal pratiği arasındaki benzerlikleri arıyor ve bunları birleştiriyor. Bu eserler kendi içlerinde birer süreci devam ettirirken, belirli sosyal ortamların soyut biçimlerini ve pratiklerini de kopya ederek, sergi içerisinde yeni bir hareket alanı yaratıyor ve izleyenin bu alanda üretken bir biçimde vakit geçirebilmesi için uygun bir ortam oluşturuluyor. Sergi süresince izleyicinin de sürece dahil olabileceği bu yeni mekan, ortak bir kullanım alanına dönüşüyor. Ceylan Öztürk, “küçük harfli tarih”te tarih yazımının subjektif yaklaşımını sanatçı olarak ele almasının yanında konunun ve sürecin devamını sağlarken, sergi alanında sergi ile birlikte devam edecek ve süreci devam ettirecek bir yapı oluşturuyor. Bu sürece serginin oluşturulma süreci de dahil olurken, sergi geçmişinin kaydı sunuluyor ve öznel tarih yazımı görselleştiriliyor. Hem birbirleriyle alt-metinsel bağlar kuran hem de birbirlerini tamamlayan hazır nesneler, sanatçı tarafından üretilen görseller, video ve dokümanlar, mekanın bütününü kaplayan ve parçaları da etkileyen büyük bir yerleştirme ile birleşiyor. İzleyicinin sergide gezdiği alanı ve sergiyi izleme şeklini değiştiren bu yerleştirmede, izleyicinin mekandaki hareketi ve mekan algısı ile tarih yazımı konusu ilişkilendiriliyor. Her sergisi kendine ait farklı bir düşünce düzleminde gerçekleşen Ceylan Öztürk, bunun için bir yandan mekanın sağladığı olasılıkları işlerine katarken diğer yandan da çok farklı türlede malzemeyi sanatında kullanmayı tercih ediyor. Tarihçi ve sanatçı arasındaki benzerliklere vurgu yapan "küçük harfli tarih" sergisi, 6 Şubat 2015 ile 14 Mart 2015 tarihleri arasında ALAN İstanbul'da görülebilir. ------------------------------------------------- ALAN Istanbul presents Ceylan Öztürk's 4th solo show “history in lowercase” Renowned for the scope of her shows and installation/intervention works, Ceylan Öztürk assumes the role of an historian for her new show “history in lowercase” and narrates from the subjective perspective of an historian how history is written through an artist's individuality. The works on display, as method of a try out, seek similarities between the subjective perspective of history writing and an artist's practice, and then combine these. While these works sustain a process in their own right, they copy the abstract forms and practices of some social environments, inside the exhibition they create a new movement at the space and they generate a suitable occasion for the viewer to spend a productive time in this space. This new space where the viewer would also be involved, turns into a common area. In "history in lowercase", besides dealing with the subjective approach of history writing as an artist and keeping the process proceeding, a structure has been formed to develop the process of the show and the context. While the making period of the exhibition is included to this process, the past of the show is exhibited and the subjective history writing is visualised. Establishing sub-textual connections with one another while playing an indispensable role in the transformation of space; ready-mades, images created by the artist, video and documents are brought together in a large installation that spreads to the whole space, influencing its own pieces. Transforming the way viewers move within the show and how they see it, the installation relates the movement of viewers and their perception of space to the process of history-writing. Having realized each of her shows according to different thought processes, Ceylan Öztürk on the one hand makes use of the opportunities provided by the space in creating her works, while she on the other hand utilizes many different kinds of materials. “history in lowercase”, which emphasizes the similarities between an historian and an artist, can be seen at ALAN Istanbul between 6 February 2015 and 14 March 2015.
