asparagas degildir umarim. bir de >> gerekir : WHAT TO DO AT A LAMB GIG For those of you who haven't seen us, or towns we have never played, i think the crowds are sometimes shocked at how we choose to present the band (a lot more having it and and energetic than the records). For those of you, here is what to do in 6 easy steps. MOVE This isn't just for us, we have realized, that moving crowds don't think as much as static crowds, thinking is totally overrated, and has its place, but not at a gig, feeling the music is better which is more viable when the body is engaged. SING If you can or can't, i like to see it when people get the words wrong but dont care! EXPRESS YOURSELF Let those quirky things that you don't want people to see out! you'll feel much better, and realise, that you're not the only nutter. BE AWARE OF OTHERS The thing that makes our gigs stand out is how fucking amazing our fans are, everyone is on a good level, just a bit of eye contact, to people around you and help, if needed, makes so much difference. Lets keep the gigs personal! HAVE FUN What these are all about, with an open mind and an opening to the vibe, the levels of fun and positive energy are amazing. ENERGY The music is important granted, but the energy of the gigs is better. It works in a phenomenal way, in that i mean, we start the ball rolling, getting the folks excited, from there we feed off the crowd, as much as they feed off us. I believe that if you look at energy in the same way as you need fuel for a car, there is your own personal tank, where to store your fuel, this is quickly exhausted, and takes a while to refill. But tapping into the energy of the crowd is like mining oil from the ground, there is loads of it...purer, and stronger than the personal. In encouraging crowds to express passion, its really to develop the feeling of all the band and crowd tapping in to this infinite supply of energy, this is when the shows are best! THE WAVING FINGERS EXPERIMENT We have been trying out an experiment, at most gigs, where i invite the crowd to relax, and raise their hands and wiggle their fingers. The results have been really good, i believe for a number of reasons, one is majority, most people actually do it and the cynics are totally outnumbered, the second, is its not "cool" and there is the possibility of feeling stupid. This is a powerful tool for getting the mind to shut up (bonus), and to engage with the body. Lastly i believe the hands act as antennae for the vibe and energy that's in the room (everyone gets on the same wavelength). When i ask the front of the crowd to turn to the back, its to lose the "we're the band and in control" vibe and make it more a communal feeling, hey we're all equal, other variations have involved shouting and in our swiss shows the crowd ohming (mmmmm mantra) (without any instruction from the stage) this was really magic. Constructive comments or ideas would be good on this, a few people have slated it, but in general we have got a good reaction to it. What do you think? email letters as always to intouch@lambstar.net. Lamb love Andy |
