Hans Rosling (born 1948 in Uppsala, Sweden) is since 1997 professor of
International Health at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. From
1967 to 1974 he studied statistics and medicine at Uppsala University, and
in 1972 he did public health at St John´s Medical College in Bangalore. He
became a licenced physician in 1976 and from 1979 to 1981 he served as
District Medical Officer in Nacala in northern Mozambique.

TED (Technology Entertainment Design),TED talks, TEDtalks, or TED Global
is a forum for revolutionary ideas held annually in Monterey, California and
recently in other cities around the world. TED describes itself as a "group
of remarkable people that gather to exchange ideas of incalculable value".
Its topics are extremely broad, including science, arts, politics, global
issues, architecture, music and more. The speakers are from a wide variety
of communities and disciplines. TED also has a companion conference, TED
Global, whose location changes, but which was held in Oxford, England in
July 2005 and will be held in Arusha, Tanzania in June 2007. A number of
talks can now be downloaded as video podcasts
