"Sa ne na was created in 2006 by American Amy Salsgiver and Turkish perc
ussionists OzguBulut and Kerem Oktem. They met with the idea of performi
ng contemporary percussion musicby composers like John Cage, Steve Reic
h and Iannis Xenakis. However, after their firstrehearsal they realized that
these "modern classics" only told half the story. Their owncompositions mak
e up a large part of their repertoire, as well as music of new composers.
The music reflects their wide variety of influences, from rock music to minima
lism,lullabyes to Afican folk songs. All together, their music paints a picture
of the changingworld of classical music today."
