US actress Gwyneth Paltrow has said she is "deeply upset" over claims
she made anti-American remarks in a recent interview to a Portuguese
newspaper.

The 34-year-old allegedly said that "the British are much more intelligent
and civilised than the Americans".

Paltrow - who is married to UK singer Chris Martin - told US magazine
People she is "so proud to be American".

She said her comments were "completely misconstrued" during a press
conference she conducted in Spanish.
